Good day from Les Gets! Round 2 of the DH World Cup was an unforgettable one! Taking place on a completely new track for this year, mother nature had different plans for the riders while the practice and Quali rounds had the sunshine, rain clouds gradually covered over the track on race day and changed the characteristics of the course entirely for the Mens Elite race. Regardless of the elements, the riders certainly put on a show in front of a large French crowd.
What a week it’s been for the Commencal / Muc-off team, we saw Thibaut Daprela taking the top step in the mens, one week after being airlifted out of the French cup. We thought he may not even start yet against all odds he laid down a mad run.
Myriam Nicole took second in the womens after Qualifying 1st. She crashed and fought so hard to regain the top spot missing out by 0.2 seconds.
And shout out to our Aussie Connor Fearon who took 4th place in the mens. After the disappointment of not qualifying in R1 (first time in 10 years) he turned it around and took a podium.
What fighters, what emotion, what a race!
We certainly missed Amaury Pierron who wasn’t able to race as he’s still recovering from a crash a week ago at a French Cup, though the crowd didn’t disappoint with plenty of flags and messages for Momo. We hope to see Amaury back in action at the next round of the World Cup taking place in Maribor on 14 August.
